World Book Day 2021

At Rosetta we love a good book and we love celebrating World Book Day.

However, we find that one day is not enough so always like to have a few activities planned throughout the week as well as on the big day itself.

We looked at numeracy through books by using the 'Ten little' range of books.

The children enjoyed using the loose parts to help them .

We looked at an old favourite, Dear Zoo.

We made the reading of the book more interactive by wrapping up small world figures of all the animals and addressing them to the children at Rosetta. Then when reading the book they were able to open the relevant parcel at the correct time.

Today was all about interactive books. These can help even the most reluctant child enjoy reading.

The big day!

Children came dressed as many wonderful characters from their favourite books.

There was lots of book activities on offer for everyone to take part in

We had a 'We're going on a bear hunt' tough spot, with messy play to help us tell the story.

We then made pancake 'bears' for snack, yummy!

But my personal favourite and one of the easiest tough spot ideas, was real vegetables with googly eyes and drawn on faces to help tell the Supertato story!

Books are not just for World Book day of course, and are an everyday part of learning at Rosetta, but it is always nice to take an extra moment to celebrate what they can offer our children.
